It is a symptom of universal sin; all are by nature in rebellion against God. Every Christian once walked in darkness, a participant in this cosmic rebellion. Christians are said to have been enemies of God before they chose to come back to the only One worthy of our worship. It is why genuine followers of God call Him "Lord", for we have surrendered our hearts and lives to the One Who truly loves us. It is also why it is dangerous to think one is a Christian simply by belonging to a church, or saying a prayer, or even by believing in God. Genuine children of the Kingdom of God have acknowledged Jesus Christ as both Savior and Lord. That requires a humility that is directly opposed to the sin nature. Thank God, in His great mercy, He can reach down to us, and through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, rescue us.
"Most"? Hardly... and it's hard for people like myself to be against something that I don't believe in. I AM against the silly notions that people come up with due to their belief in a certain god or gods.
I think God will "call" everyone at some point in their life. If you reject the call .. His Holy Spirit will not be present in your heart. Without that spirit .. The word of God will not be discerned and understood by the person. Therefore they cannot feel His love. It is foolishness to them. To us that accept that call .. We have a burning desire to know Him more. Each of us has a choice.
I think it's because they see so many bad things happening in the world, so they assume that a benevolent God would not let these things happen, ergo, there is no God. they think God should make everything perfect, or at least close to perfection
Religion is kind of a touchy topic . I have been taught to not talk about two things . Religion and politics I guess it's a courtesy thing , but if someone asks me I will tell them. Me personally I haven't found a religion that best suites me yet. I haven't found a political party yet either .
We aren't against God we just don't believe in him. It always seem like the people who say we are are just saying that because they feel like we should. In my opinion, you can't force a religion on someone, you can't MAKE them believe in God if they don't. Quit being so ignorant and annoying. If I (or anyone else) don't want to believe, then just leave us alone.
They don't war against gods. They don't war against persons. They are against certain doctrines that is being preached in the name of god that they believe to be wrong. It violates their morality to align themselves with the hypocritical, judgmental, self righteous & vengeful murderer that you call god. Now let me make myself perfectly plain. For instance, I am against Presbyterianism, but I know hundreds of splendid Presbyterians. Understand me. I am against Catholicism, and yet I know hundreds of splendid Catholics. I hate insanity but not the insane.
Your god has cast a shadow even over the cradle. The doctrine of hell has covered the cheeks of this world with tears. If God made us, why he will destroy us? How can infinite wisdom make a poor investment? Why should God make failures? Why should god not correct his mistakes, instead of damning men? I despise a god who tells a mother that she could lavish the bounties of heaven while watching her wayward child burning for eternity in hell. I despise it, detest it, and I deny it. In punishment, he could send me to the hell it’s made for those it dislikes, and if there was no other choice but worshiping it, I would walk in proudly.
I think it might have to do with original sin that we inherited from Adam an Eve. For so reason people know that when they sin they don't care at the time but ask for forgiveness before they die But then again Adam anEve might be a fairy tale
Many people feel that religion is a private matter, and don't want or care to talk about God or the Bible. And many people are busy making a living, and some don't want to be restricted and told that whatever they may do is not right in God's eyes. Each has their reason. There have always been people who do not believe in God, it's nothing new. In fact, Psalms 53:1 (NIV) says "The fool says in his heart, There is no God..."
Well... The christian god... Committed genocide, killed a woman for... looking back... Created EVERYTHING, included sin, sadism, torture, pedophilia, down syndrome, retardation, birth defects, disease, hate, the deadly sins, blah blah blah... God has been used for justifying war, discrimination, abuse... Even Hitler has claimed to be doing the lords work... If god were a man, known to be god, no special powers... he would be one of the most hated men in history... Yet also, unfortunately... One of the most loved... Why would some one love it anyway?... What has he done for people besides creating us wanting us to all be good "like him". other wise he will send us to hell where we will burn for the rest of time (arrogant)... if god wants love and respect he should prove that he deserves it...
I usually only see this question raised from the segment of Christian adherents who are experiencing themselves as marginalized by changes in our culture which demonstrates that their sect is outside of what most people find as credible in religious thinking. We got past the Inquisition and the Reformation and God's place in history did not experience itself as diminished. Truth never changes, but our ability to recognize it changes constantly as we grow. This is not a bad thing. Lots of stupid thinking that God had nothing to do with has been attributed to him by people claiming to have complete knowledge of "absolute" truths. To make any such claim is "original sin". We can only read his word with an open heart and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us to the best decision that love and our intelligence will allow us to make. More people are for God than you think.
It is because God's Law is written on their conscience. Everyone knows that it's wrong to lie, and steal, and blaspheme, yet they do it, and they know it's wrong. They also know that God is real, and they will be morally accountable to Him on the Day of Judgement. They don't like the idea of Hell, so they rebel against God and make a false god without any standards - some even deny His existence all-together.
To know that God doesn’t exist means you would have to know everything, because if there is any information you don’t know, God could be among that. You would also have to be everywhere at the same time, because if you were not, God might be somewhere you were not.
Why will some atheists never find God, even though God has promised to reward them if they diligently seek Him in faith? Because they never honestly look
