My parents/ everyone think I'm too smart to become a pa?

P.A -> Physician assistant. So Im a junior in High school, and my career goals revolve around medicine. My parents want me to become a doctor. I once told them about becoming a pa but they told me: Why not be a physician when you can be his assistant...Because of my high academic achievements, they want me to be something great. I understand them, but I'm not sure I want to study for 8 years or something, but I want to work in the health care world... I don't want to disappoint them...What should I do?

Just do what you think you would enjoy doing. Most people live happier lives and stick with their jobs when they like them. Some people who dis like their jobs become depressed.

Its your life not theirs. Do what you think is best for your future.

There will have to be a point where you cut the apron strings and make your own life's decisions without necessarily doing that which your parents want you to do. This doesn't mean you should disregard their input. A wise child will seek wise counsel, will respect and honor his mother and father's input, and will understand that HE will have to live with his decision; his parents won't. If you believe you're parents are wise, you should give serious weight to their opinions. However, you need to start making your own decisions with confidence that you're doing the right thing. Not always easy to do what your parents want you to do or don't want you to do.

It takes a lot of education to be a P.A. You have to be very smart. After all you'll be writing prescriptions and doing much I the same things as a Dr. Might as well make the big bucks too.

You will have to have at least six years of school to be a PA, why not go another two and be a physician. That's where the money is.

You still have years before you need to decide. Keep an open mind but go for the job you will enjoy doing.
