At the very first sign of a headache, take ibuprofen. If possible, rest in a quiet, dark room for about 10 minutes. The key is to take something right away!

You may find this a bit off the wall but in Vietnam you can only try to imagine the high level of stress they suffered therefore headaches daily. In fact it was so common that they would anticipate one actually causing one.

Urine is good for more than jellyfish stings, athletes foot and golden showers....did you know it can be used to cure a headache as well?
To cure yourself of a headache, simply take a small sample of your urine, in a cup or a bowl. Position your nose slightly above the urine and slowly inhale for 30-60 seconds. Your headache will be gone.
This works because there are chemicals in your urine that relax muscles. When air touches the urine, it evaporates and the chemicals become vapors.
This is also why rubbing urine on a sore muscle relieves pain.

You are right and YES that approach does work. Personally I prefer to dilute the urine homeopathically to the 6X potency, which lasts for months and is instantly available for an instant clearing of a headache. Well, migraine, anyway. I was so focussed on migraines, I didn't ever experiment with ho-hum headaches. Pure water, cold packs, darkened room an a few drops of pure Essential Oil of Lavender rubbed into the temples is instant BLISS!! You have my 'Helpful' tick of approval!!!
Report as
I don't think that is to pleasant... But I'll try that next time I get a headache.
Report as
I agree - the strong urine is yuk, but the 6X (one part per million) preparation is tasteless and VERY effective. Also, urine won't keep, whereas the 6X urine keeps indefinitely if you use Vodka as the diluent in the final piotency.

One of the major causes for headaches is also the quickest cure ... . absolute truth .... caffeine . I have been diagnosed with cluster migraine headaches , and they are terrible . I am on all sorts of meds for it . I was instructed to stay away from Coca Cola , chocolate , etc . but , when I get a headache , a quick infusion of caffeine sure does a quicker job thAn any medicine prescribed by my doctor .

Remarkable!!! That is a wonderful summary, Thethreestooges! A strong, black coffee will blow away a severe migraine immediately IF you don't normally put much caffeine into your system. Painkiller medicines NEVER work because they aren't correcting the CAUSE of the pain. Pure water, cold packs, darkened room an a few drops of pure Essential Oil of Lavender rubbed into the temples is instant BLISS!! You have my 'Helpful' tick of approval!!!
Report as
Yes and you might want to be careful that the cause of your problem is not your body craving the caffeine, or going through withdraw so to say.

If your getting these headaches on a regular basis then you might want to look deeper into the issue and do some detoxing. There is probably an overload of toxins built up in your liver.
Report as
I have an older friend who had migraines for about 15 years and she also could only use caffeine to help them. She finally learned about changing her eating styles and the quality of her food, and did a bentonite toxin cleanse, started juicing fresh fruits and veggies, and started doing enimas to purge the toxins out of her liver that were already in there and being poured in by the detoxing. She hasn't had a migraine in almost a year now :)

Caffeine may seem to help relieve it, but it is not fixing the root of the problem.

I get migraines for a number of reasons, stress, milk chocolate etc. Feverfew is the best! It vanishes like magic. You can search it at bit.ly/searchhealth.

YES - Feverfew leaves - eat one a day - will clear away migraines. But you have to cut out those trigger foods - the ones you love, but don't love you. Mine was blue-vein cheese!$#^ You have my "Helpful" tick of approval....

I am thrilled with the calibre of answers to this question - well done everybody. Basically I do not recommend painkillers because they rarely work and can cause aggravations you really don't want in your body. Stay hydrated (pure WATER), use ice packs on the pain, rest in a darkened room and rub a few drops of pure Essential Oil of Lavender into your temples. Eating a leaf of Feverfew a day keeps the headaches away!!! And to understand all that is involved, read up on one of two of these:

I agree about painkillers. I think all painkillers do is cover up the pain without truly treating the problem. Pain is what your body does to let you know there is something wrong. Instead of looking for a quick fix like a pain killer you should look for the root of the problem.

Thank you. With my Osteopathic hat on, headaches can arise from tension and misalignments in the neck, shoulders and around the skull. Having that all straightened out relieves a headache in an instant! Hopefully you have a Craniosacral Therapist or Craniopath nearby as they are marvellous for this type of correction. Failing that, Chiropractors using modern stress-release techniques can do these sensitive corrections without their old-fashioned snap-crackle-pop thrusts. Sometimes just deep massage and gentle traction is all that is required to free up the neck and cranium.

Too "lengthy" I presume is your comment. With over 12,000 DIFFERENT causes for headaches and each one needing individual attention, I DEFY you to squash all of that information into a couple of sentences we are allowed in "Ask," I have an entire row of references in my bookcase devoted exclusively to treating headaches. And all you want is the ONE treatment that suits your personal needs. Brevity has nothing to do with this - accuracy is everything when addressing pain!!!

Depends what's causing your headache. Couple things to try:
. Persistant dull headaches can be caused by tension in the muscles running from the back of your head down the top of your shoulders. My chiropractor taught me how to relieve such headaches: Sit up straight in a straight-backed chair. Reach the left arm behind you and take hold of the left chair leg. Turn your head 90 degrees to the left. With your right arm, still sitting up straight and facing left, gently pull your head diagonally away from your left shoulder to gently stretch the muscle. Repeat for other side.

This may not help you tonight, but I find a dash of taurine powder disolved in water helps boost the paracetamol (it's a calcium channel blocker, like many migraine medicines). You can get a bottle of taurine in powder or tablets fairly cheaply from a vitamin supplier. I like the powder because it's fast-acting and cheap. (I take it daily as a supplement for other reasons - it's what the body uses to manufacture CoQ-10, which is getting so much good press lately but costs an arm and a leg).

This is a bizarre one but sometimes helps: with the pads of your thumbs, pull gently up and out on the top of your eye sockets (!) like you're trying to stretch out the socket a bit. Ok, weird, I know. Use with care, if at all. I think it relieves some pressure in the sinuses perhaps? If you do it right you do feel a bit of release.

Good luck!

Gummybear, as to your second comment, that is true! Doing that along with rubbing your temples and certain parts on your hands and feet will release tension or buildup headaches, it's reflexology.

Placing something soft and cool over your forehead can help the blood vessels constrict, which might ease some of the pain of the headache. This works particularly well if the problem is concentrated in your temples or sinuses.
