why do some people on ask.com respond so irresponsibly to certain questions asked.

i understand joking and sarcasm, and i have used both as have many others. i have seen it in responses and generally it is obvious or followed by"jk" or "lol". however, i have seen some responses lately, that while i understand the sarcasm, that are potentially dangerous. any time taking your own life is given as a response, i worry for children and mentally impaired questioners. i have seen profiles that admit to being as young as 10, and others that make me wonder about their mental capacities. do others feel the same responsibility that i do to assure that jokes or sarcasm are understood to be humor.

I'm guilty as charged.
But sometimes is just that, sometimes, people have different sense of humor.
We say stuff, which we consider funny, but others don't consider it "funny"
But, we can't help it. If this is ALWAYS serious, where's the fun?
I mean, I get you, but, just look at the other point of view of others.

i actually have read many of your responses, and although i may not agree with all of your responses, i have found you to be very good at making sure humor was known to be humor. i think you are one of the better responders, and i have always enjoyed your insight and humor. thank you for your response.

Most of my answers are sarcasm. Because most of the questions I answer have no concrete actual answer. I am a humorous person and try to inject a little joking into a conversation. Some people don't like it, or understand it. that's usually when my answer gets deleted. I just like to think that if one person laughs or smiles at a funny answer, then I made one person have a better day.

i understand and appreciate the humor given, but i am talking about answers that say something along the lines of "you are a demon, go kill yourself".

i love sarcasm and use it more than most probably, but when we do use it, i personally am terrified that somebody would take it as serious, and act upon my joke.

so some answers do cause others to pause? i was hoping that i am not being too overly sensitive to some answers. i have a strong background of working with mentally impaired persons, and tend to over think things. i kinda wondered if i was doing the same on this site.

Because of the anonymity of the internet, people behave as if they have no accountability for their behavior. It's really quite sad. There's a local newspaper that allowed anonymous registration for commenting on articles, and there was so much hatefulness spewed, but the moment they required using a Facebook account, suddenly everyone behaved a little better because their real names were associated with their comments.

The accounts are only supposed to be for thirteen and older, so I don't worry about age.
As far as mentally impaired questioners... Well, they can't expect the whole community to adapt to them. I know it sounds harsh, but that's how it is in the real world and I won't walk on eggshells every time I answer a question. I just won't. But potentially dangerous? Don't you think that's a bit extreme?

I think some are, especially when people ask for medical advice (of course, they really shouldn't ask for medical advice on the internet, should they?) People say things like "I fell and my head hurts" and someone tells them "take an aspirin and sleep it off." That is dangerous.

Yes... I suppose there is always that. And there's not really a good way to handle those situations..

the posts that i have seen that this question is based on was along the line of "you are a demon, kill yourself", to me, yes that us potentially dangerous.

i like this site too, and enjoy being able to use humor and sarcasm, and if you read or have read, any of my posts, you will see that. i don't claim to have any other degree than experience either. for the most part, i find the q&a on here great. it is just a few answers that i find troublesome, and was curious to the thoughts of others here on ask as to the general consensus of appropriateness of these answers.

Your question makes a very good point. I sometimes worry about situations and people I read about here. On the other hand I have been known to hit "report as" and "threatening" when I'm just scrolling! Sorry about that!

thank you, it is comforting to know some answers cause concern in others than me. i wasn't sure if i was being too concerned based on the nature of this site, or if i misunderstood the purpose of this site. i asked this question in order to evaluate whether i should continue or not. based on the answers received, i realize that generally people here want to be able to help others with the knowledge they have, and have some fun while doing so. i think i still belong here for now. thanks again.

Hmm to be honest I would have to throw both hands up in the air because I have done this countless times and are not accounted for as an Angel, but it just all boils down that everyone is different and have a sense of humor. Or may feel the need or got the urge to answer questions in ways that seem sarcastic and I mean some are and mean to be, but others are just being funny and don't really mean to. Now me I do mean to some times and ain't going to lie because some of these question are just quiet ridiculous and on others I don't and just am mainly answering them in my humorous ways....

Well I normally don't joke around unless if it is a silly question but if it is serious I will take the time and do what I can to help that person.
