We purchased a new vehicle in another state and wish to transfer the plates from our old vehicle to the new one.

You can fill out the application to register a vehicle.
At the top is a check box for transfer of plates to another vehicle.
You will need the title.
You will need to switch the insurance to the new VIN number.
The insurance co. will email you "proof of insurance"
Take it with you to the DMV.
A bill of sale is required in some states but not others.
Sales tax will usually be collected unless you paid sales tax in the other state.

Go to your local dealership, and they should be able to get your taxes and information switched over for you. (:

"local dealership" won't help, they have to go to the dept of motor vehicles.

I would say that you have to get a temporary plate where you bought the vehicle when you get home you pay the taxes and they will transfer your plates.
