What do I do for my puppy, if he's overweight? Or is it normal for him to be a little over weight?

He is 8 weeks, and his stomach is just huge! He's been like that since we got him. Is it normal for my pup to be a bit big? He is an American bulldog (they look just like a pit as a puppy)

Since he is only 8 weeks old, I would check with your vet before you do anything. He might just be a chubby puppy. It's very important he gets the proper nutrition at that age. I bet he is a cute little guy!! :)

I suggest leaving dog food out in a bowl all day - so then, the puppy can reach it efficiently throughout the day when needed. Try this for a while, and if this continues, then the puppy must be fine. If there is changes within actions, development, and/or mood, consult your vet for further information.

He plays a lot, and when he isn't hungry he doesn't even eat... Which leads me to the question of why is he big in the first place O.o I don't get it ..

I like your puppies by the way
Report as
He's probably just supposed to be that size, then. Talk to your vet about it if you're worried. And those puppies aren't mine, I just got the pic from google. I have a mini schnauzer.

Oh lol and okay thanks

Bulldogs tend to look a little chunky, if your really worried about it take him to the vet for a checkup, he will check out the dog and if he's worried about the weight he will tell you

He's not an English Bulldog he's an American. American bulldogs are kind of just like pits in looks, and the way they grow up.

A few pics of what they look like:

They still get a little chunky when they are babies, cuz they have baby fat, take it to the vet he will tell you

Puppies always have a bit of puppy belly .. I can only assume you've already had him to a vet for his shots and a checkup. THAT is where you should be getting your information about his condition.

He's had his shots. -.-

Did the vet mention anything about his 'belly' or overall health?
Report as
We got him from a breeder, so they did it for us. We payed for him.

Puppies are normally quite rotund. You do want to make sure the puppy gets good nutrition and has regular bowel movements, and gets all of his shots as scheduled.
