Do Stars displayed on houses or other residential out buildings represent political &/or ideological social position/s, other than decor?

Yes. In the US the Amish & related cultural groups often have them painted on their barns. For decoration, usu. six-pointed. The symbols supposedly have origins in either religion or superstition. (They're also sometimes referred to as "Moravian Stars".) Morocco is also country that uses stars for symbolic decoration. Often found in wall mosaics.
