How do you get over your fears?

i love doing sports, but in cheer i really need to do a back handspring but im to scared i might fall and break my neck :()!!!!

If you're really nervous, just try to get a friend to do it with you, practice a lot, and pretty soon you'll be over it!

just believe that things you have fear from cannot kill you.....believe the fact that others are doing the same and nothing happening to them.....try to think of fun over ur fear once and win over it

If you want to get over your fears do them. hear is an example my youth pastor is scared of sky diving so he went and now he is over that fear!!!! :) Hope I helped!!!

The first step: drill down. You can't wrestle with fear if you don't understand what you are afraid of. This may sound easy, but when you're wracked with fear, even simple logic can be elusive.

Next: Line up your fears in order of acuteness. If you're claustrophobic, for example, perhaps taking a large and fast elevator is mildly frightening but sitting in a small room with no windows for 10 minutes is terrifying. List about 20 different situations and rank them from mildly annoying to downright debilitating.

Now comes the really scary part: putting yourself in all of those situations, starting with the easiest ones first and building up. Breathing exercises help, too. Many therapists assign patients reading and often a workbooks for charting their progress. If you can, try tackling the items on your list for 10 to 30 minutes each day. Do that, and you should see improvement within the month. If not, call in a pro.

if you try it and you might not be as scared as you thought it was before!!:)
for example if you hate spiders then you should get some one to lock you in a room with a big spider and dont let the person let you out till youv overcome your fear
hypnosis can be helpful, or just face them mano e mano

Anything jumbled & confused in your head & heart needs to come out so you can look at it in the light of day. Take a piece of paper and draw a line, vertically, down the middle of it. On the top, write the fear.On the left list all the bad things you think might happen. On the right list what you may be missing by holding back. Some 'facts' will come quickly, others will pop up later in the day or next day. Keep your paper close and add to your two lists. You can put this paper on your bathroom mirror, on your fridge, carry it in your pocket.... but look at it often and see if you should move forward or avoid what may be a mistake. Sometimes I put my list(s) on the passenger seat of the car so as I do my errands I can read & reread what's bugging me. You will know exactly what path to take if you keep looking at it in black & white. Good Luck.

lots of fears in life,some worse then others.a back-flip,get help with a spotter there.im now kinda fat an old to try it so in my case the spotter would have more fear then me.lol. rest of them,use math,work out the problem an build up confidence an 'face it' only when you think your truly ready.goodluck.

Just relax and stay calm. First ask a friend to help you do it, then (only if you want) try it against a wall. Then, you will be more than ready to do it!

you practice you fears little at a time. that's what i did to become over my fear of height just a little at a time

With friends nearby and rooting for you, practice that fearful move over and over no matter how scary and then your brain will realize there isn't anything to be afraid of.

Have you watched movie Harry Potter? They have one spell "Riddikulus" which can change anything you fear to the funniest things, spell is not real but I think that method is good, so I have tried, I usually feel fear when I was alone in the deep night because that I have watched so many terrible ghost movies and all the terrible pictures are in my mind which makes me can't sleep, and now it is OK, because when anytime the terrible ghost pictures are in my mind, I say "Riddikulus" in my mind and ask them to dance for me.hahaha, and I am not feared. I think fear is only in your heart, so find a way to make you happy and feel this fear so funny, and then you are OK. This is what I study from Harry Potter! Hah....

Want to say more, the story in Harry Potter gave you some examples, 1, Naville is so scared to his teacher Snap, so he said the spell and made Snap dressed her grandmother's clothes. 2, Ron is scared the big spider, so he said the spell and made the spider with roller skates so the spider can't stand steadily...
So when anytime you feel fear, think them in a funny way!

As scary as it may sound; you will have to face them. When you face your fear, anything will be possible. If you break one of your bones while doing a handspring, don't let that stop you. If you break your neck while doing a handspring, then that will stop you for a very long time, but it's highly unlikely that you will break your neck. It is possible, but it won't happen as long as you have someone to guide and help you.

accept the risk and control what you can. weather you fail or succeed doesnt matter. the success is taking action and taking control of the fear. use fear as a tool to succeed and accept fear. you and fear are on the same team.

Have somebody show you how and encourage yourself to do it because it's safe, quick, and easy and someone did it right in front of your face without breaking their neck.
