I don't believe the same as you. I firmly believe that there are a multitude of people that each person is compatible with and that when they find someone compatible and fall in love.... they believe it's their one true love. To believe that there is only one single person in the entire world that is your one true love... seems rather difficult for me to swallow.

God takes all the bad things that happen in our lives and makes something good out of them. He does not make bad things happen. I'm so sorry you lost someone you love. Pray about it and watch for God to bring good to you.

Everything happens for a reason. Everything bad that happens only reminds us how special something
Is when we have it.

God, whichever one you like, doesn't pick your true love. YOU pick your love, and he/she is or isn't true. This is why you need to get to know someone before you love them, and we do have at least some choice over whether to love someone. But no god or goddess does it for or to us; we do it for or to ourselves.

God is all about what is called "agape" love--spiritual love. Adam created "eros" love when he ached in his heart for physical (earthly) love. Adam saw the animals had this yet he didn't. He asked God for a mate as all other species had one. That said, God is joyful when we find love here on earth, but He's not responsible for it. We are. Just as God didn't create death, man did. God doesn't give then take away.

I'm so sorry for your loss, MitchellsGirl. I can only imagine how you must feel.

It doesn't help you to point out that death comes to all of us and, whenever it does, it leaves the survivor shattered and asking why. Even though what you feel now tears at you so much it will ease with time. You won't forget the love (was it Mitchell?) and you won't forget what you meant to each other, and obviously still mean, but it will become easier to live with.

It's an inappropriate time to welcome you to Ask but, when you're feeling a little less pain, I hope you'll come back and join us. We have so many people on here who have been where you are and who can share your anguish.

Odd.. for some reason, I did not pick up "takes them away" as dying when looking at the question. Makes me feel like my answer was "cold".

You might well be right, nwarguy. We didn't have enough information. Maybe I was just being morbid. Whatever, I hope she gets some help from some of the answers.

God doest necessarily pick the person you love. Maybe occasionally but not always. If you are meant to marry and pray about it the God might guide you toward a good person, or not. God doesnt even promise everyone will marry. According to Him its just as good, maybe better, to be single. People tend to have relationships with exactly who they wish whether God wishes it or not. Thats free choice.
And God doesnt take them away usually either. Look to satan or human weaknesses, or just sucky events that just happen because of the inherent sin in the world.
You dont say how you lost someone. If it was accident or illness then i am very sorry. If it was another woman, well...put blame where it belongs - and that isnt on God.

To say that we are controlled by destiny leads to a blasphemous doctrine. What is that? Just think about it. When an automobile kills a pedestrian, it is not the automobile that is responsible. The vehicle was only moving in the direction that the driver pointed it. The driver is responsible for what happened. Using similar reasoning, if we are all ruled by destiny, a murderer is not responsible when he kills someone. He is only doing what destiny directs him to do. The one who laid out his destiny is responsible. And who is that? Why, none other than God himself, according to those who believe this doctrine. It is the same as blaming God for all the suffering, all the heartache and all the misery that men have endured through the ages. Can you see why this idea is so harmful? Yet God is not like that. “God is love,” we are told. (1 John 4:8) “You are not a God taking delight in wickedness; no one bad may reside for any time with you,” the Bible says. (Psalm 5:4) Hence, God would never have foreordained all the wickedness we see around us today. This is largely a result of man’s misuse of his free will.
