CJ-I found some GREAT YouTube videos for making these but can't remember the links. So go ahead and search for those. Also, you can buy a ready made red velvet cake in any bakery to make these because you're just going to crumble it up anyway to mold the pops. The mistake most people said was when they frosted them, they didn't water down the icing a little and regular icing is just too heavy and they fall apart . If you see Country Girl Pride before you leave, she also has some great sites that show how to make them. :-)

CJ-are you okay??? What's wrong? I feel something is wrong. I woke up to read your answers and give stars and right away I felt something is very wrong. If you see this, please comment when ever you can.-Bexkie

Sincerity, everything is fine sweetie! :) I made some cake pops, before reading this of course, and you're right. I even used the candy melts. They were too heavy. None of the tutorials I watched said to water them down thou, so I just assumed I'd done something wrong. I was actually going to try again tomorrow because I microwaved the chocolate, was going to try it on the stove tomorrow. But if this is all it is, then I'm golden!
Thanks for answering, and sorry you were worried about me! I haven't been spending very much time on here lately, maybe that's why you felt that way! I'm getting bored with ask. And there's never any decent questions :(

Well my little chickadee, it's because I AM THE ONE who thought of the water in icing for pops! No one else in the entire WORLD has fhought this up ha ha! I watched tutorials too and they were too heavy . Don't you think it needs to be almost "a glaze "? Thanks for replying. I had a bad dream mast night so ai guess that was the problem. :-)

Yes a glaze would be perfect. I'm doing some reading on it now, and quite a few places recommend adding some crisco or vegetable oil to the candy coating.
I also think I put too much frosting in my cake mix.
So when I do some for my party next week, I have learned a few things! LOL
I did lemon cake with lemon frosting and chocolate coating for these ones.
Think I may do a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting and vanilla coating for my next ones! :)

Well at Christmas, this one guy and I can't dement Ed who if was, said he added 1 tablespoon of melted plain WAX FO his Christmas cookie frosting. He said it made it SO SMOOTH and when it dried, it had a beautiful shine, kept it's shape much much nicer , and no one could tell it had wax because there was so little of it...and! He had a bakery ?he said). It would have to be the kind of wax that peoe who can vegetables would use.

Whew! Better go-too tired to see to type and making too many mistakes!

Hmm.. wonder what kind of wax then. I'm just going to try the vege oil next time, since you have to have it to make the cakes anyways. I'll keep you posted on how those turn out.

Haha, I understood what you said! :)

The wax is in the canning supply section in the grocery store. I'm not so sure about the oil...think about giving corn syrup a try. Just a teaspoonful. We'll compare note and yes the trick is the aMOUNT of frosting in batter. My daughter first made them a year ago and TOO MUCH frosting.

Well the recipes I had said to use the whole container of frosting, but that is too much. I mean they are still good, but it's not cake anymore. It's just candy coated frosting lol.
