Different brands have different ingredients. It's safe to say the more you pay, the better the ingredients. Can be pork, beef, chicken, turkey, combo of all four or even veggie dogs. It's usually all the leftover parts, use your imagination there. I know that, but I still love em on a bun with mayo, mustard, onions, and cheese!
Pretty much anything left over after the butcher gets done carving up the animal. The rest gets ground up and made into hot dogs. The stuff that gets rejected by the hot dog makers gets turned into McDonald's hamburger patties.
The only one I know which actually has what it says it does in it is Hebrew National; They are made in a facility under Kosher (kashrut) rules and supervision. That same process also makes them Halal( Permissible under Islamic law), so supposedly should be slightly better grade of meat; either way, they're really good!:-)
