Johnny Cash Hank Williams Jr. Most of these started before the 70s but were popular in the 70s. Leon Russell wasn't country but he had one album called Hanks Back that blurred the lines. Hank Williams died on Jan. 1, 1953 but was still influential to both rock and Country in the 70s and no list of country artists would be complete without him. Some of the Eagles work had a country influence. Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks wasn't really country but they had some music that was country flavored. Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys There are more but that's all I can think of right now. Some of the ones I mentioned did something called Country Swing.
