How often should jeans be washed? (see details)

I used to wash my jeans every week, like my laundry, but they ended up fading faster and getting all wonky, stretched, worn out.

A friend of mine told me she washed her jeans every six months; they still look brand new.

I know the idea is the keep them as clean as possible. I just don't know how often to wash them so that they don't get worn out so fast.

Washing them every 6 months sounds gross! I don't care how careful or clean you are they need to be washed more than that! If you want you jeans to last longer wash them inside out and in cold water.

That's how I wash them (inside out, cold water), but I do laundry every week, and, as I said, they stretch out and fade.

I heard that you should wash them every 5 times you wear them, and then line dry them.

Line dry them? Is that hanging them on a clothesline? Because I do that.

I wash mine after I sweat in them or get some kind of stain, that's it though.
