Got hit, but the cop said because there wasn't visible damage on other driver's car, it's not considered a collision. Is this right?
I was hit from the side this morning and had some damage on my mirror but the cop said that because no visible damage could be seen on the other car and there was no known injury, it couldn't be considered a collision, and the other driver didn't have to provide me with his insurance information and no police report could be made. I'm wondering if this is right? It just seems like if you hit someone you should provide them with your insurance information even if there's not immediate damage or injury.
