What are some of the best ways to prepare for a job interview?

I've worked on my job for 11 years so, I'm out of the loop when it comes to interviewing skills. There is a new position opening that I'm sure they'll conduct interviews for and I just need some pointers.

Firm handshake. Don't check your watch. Shut off your cell direct eye contact. Research the position your applying for. Follow up with a thank you note.

The first thing you should know when preparing for an interview is the company's history and exactly what it is involved in. Then, you have to learn the job description like it was your own because questions regarding this will be asked. Read on from jobsearch.about.com/cs/interviews/a/aceinterview.htm.

dress nice and be sure to give eye contact but not to much. take a mint before you go in, and be sure to be clear about the skills that you have to offer

As an employer I agree. And don't bring your kids if you have any. And no blue jeans. Have a resume even if it's short. I kept them even if I didn't hire. Sometimes you need someone and a resume is a great way to find someone

Find out as much as you can about the position - what does the job do, who does it answer to, what rules/regulations are there. Spend some time exploring your strengths and weaknesses; what do you bring to the job that no one else can? What do you recognize as an area of improvement? The best website I've found which I've used as a reference for my own interviews is http://lifehacker.com/5975338/top-10-tips-for-acing-your-next-job-interview and I do mean that I have used this site as well as a few of the links alongside. Know the job, know yourself, speak confidently, let whatever happens happen.

get some sun the day before so you will have a radiant glow, see yourself already getting the job, look at this as a formality to introduce you to your new job.

With your job experience you can probably see what they are looking for in the job description. See yourself helping them that way and be prepared to communicate it. Also interview them, ask about their management style. Do they value quality or do they just want to get anything done as quickly as possible? Are things well planned or is everything a fire alarm there? I'm sure you'll do fine.
