Is there a federal agency that can help if a private company refuses to acknowledge your eligibility for a pension?

The best people to talk to in this case would be the people at the labor department. These are the people who deal with any disputes between employees and employers and I reckon they can point you in the right direction.

Employment law is usually a State, not a Federal, matter. Check with your State Department of Labor to see if they have a service to help you with pension questions. If not, you will need a lawyer to help you.
