Why can you not simply leave Windows Firewall turned off when you deploy the actual web server?

Windows Firewall is a host firewall that is designed to drop unsolicited incoming traffic that doesn't correspond to a dynamic or configured exception. Leaving your firewall turned off would allow this kind of traffic, which could cause all sorts of problems, including viruses or malware.
