How do you talk to people and be more social at parties?

I do great in groups of 3 or 4 people, but how do you become more social at a party with more people? Especially if you don't know anyone there?

Parties aren't a good place to be social

If you don't know them, you may or might not see them ever again. Just have conversations with them. Think of a topic that anyone can talk a lot about. Ask them about themselves. :o

You could try small talk like.
Hey, how are you?
Or like a brief introduction.
Just try taking it slow and work your way up.
Hope this helped.

Have your friends introduce you to some of them, or just start small talk, just break the ice and be yourself. You just have to start talking :)

Mingle around and talk to new people as they arrive and this should create more opportunities for you to be more social at parties.Don't forget to smile. :)

Alcohol. And I'm not saying this to get you drunk. Maybe I am. Anyway, a little alcohol helps with the whole inhibition and fear thing with people you don't know. It's a party so you're expected to overhear conversations and jump in at the right time. It's definitely easier when you know more people there so have the person you know (unless you're going to a party where you absolutely don't know anyone which I doubt because how would you even know about this party!) introduce you to a few people so you can strike up conversations with them later when they have other people around them. Then you can introduce yourself to them too. I realize I do a weird party networking thing. Also, try to remember something about the person you're networking off of so they feel special that you remembered them.

But if you wear an interesting shirt or accessory and stand somewhere by yourself, a guy will come up to you and start talking to you. =P

Breaking the ice at a party is tough. Maybe just chime in on an ongoing conversation and add your 2 cents. If they ignore you, move on to the next gathering.
