What events should I do for track?

I'm doing track for the first time and I'm not sure whether I want to do long or short distance as for field events I have really poor upper arm strength and hurdles scare me I just turned 13 and I'm 4'11'' and on the chunkier side of things at 115 lbs We went outside and ran 50 meters and got timed I ran 8 sec. but it was really cold 40 degrees so I was really stiff. I'm stubborn and not willing to give easily so I might just run long distances.

Well in my school you do all of the events, but what do you like? Running? Jumping over hurdles? Long jump? Or the Pole vault? My cousin isn't 4 " 11" yet and she is 15. She can jump those hurdles like lightning. She did so good she was asked to be on a travel team!

I'm doing pole vault, the 800 meter, triple jump, and javelin. Hope that gives you any ideas. :)

What you really need to do is distance because your pushing your self and you said your on the larger side it'll help with your weight also you have all high school to get better and you'll know what it's like if you do it now

I'm 5'11" and weigh in at 160. My favorite races are the 200 and 400. Just keep in mind when doing the 200 sprint all out the entire time and for the 400 pase yourself until your about in 5/8 and keep it that way till you get halfway then go balls out running. But then again, that's just me. Hope that helps

Do what ever you feel is right. If you have high endurance, do distance. If you are a really fast runner a the beginning of a race but slow down after a while, do sprint. I'm truthfully doing track myself, but right now I'm best a sprint. Although I have been training for about 7 weeks so I can do distance. Just practice and you can do what ever you put your mind too.

Sincerely,
Jacob
