Why won't iTunes sync my music back onto my iPod touch?

I have always been syncing my iPod touch to iTunes and this morning I went to iTunes and it asked me if I wanted to update iTunes. So I agreed, and then later, it asked me if I wanted to get the 5.0 version on my iPod touch. I agreed also, but then when I tried to put more music on it, iTunes synced it, but nothing happened, A few tries later, I restored my iPod touch and now when I try to get the music synced to my iPod, it doesn't do anything. I added free apps to my iPod and it synced fine. What is the problem?

Perhaps the settings on your iTunes needs to be changed to automatically sync with your iPod; sometimes updates play around with your settings.

You can try and change the sync options on the settings tab. This will solve the problem if you are syncing music from a different website. If restoring it and restating it does not solve the problem, you need to contact Apple. It could be there is a problem with your iPod and they can help you out.

In order for iTunes to sync music to iPod touch 4G it needs to be set up properly. To do this, Plug in iPod to the computer, go to tab under "devices" in iTunes and scroll to options and make sure they are set. Click on the "music" tab at the top of the sync screen and verify "sync music". After you ensure music library is what you want it to be, hit "sync: in the lower right hand corner.

I had the same problem and found I had copied my tracks to the wrong iTunes folder on my laptop. I had copied it to the iTunes folder for my iPod Classic instead of my iPod Touch. When I moved the music across to the iTunes folder for the iPod Touch and did a sync it worked. Or, to put it another way, you cannot sync the songs to an iPod when the items you want to synch to it are not in that iPod's iTunes folder on your PC. A good way to check if this is to look at your music library in iTunes and see if all those tracks you tried to synch have an exclamation mark next to them. That shows that the iTunes library couldn't find the tracks.
