I lent money for somebody I cared for & now that person isn't talking to me anymore. What to do?

I lent somebody I really cared for money which they asked for and claimed they'd give it back to me. I gave them a few days & when I asked for it again they cussed me out and deleted me off of FB, it's been 2 weeks since! How do I approach this situation at this point?

Perfect. Say you lent them 200 dollars. No problem. It only cost you 200 dollars to see that person for who they really are. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Depends how much it is....if its like 20$ or less let it go cause money comes and goes and for those who help luck strikes them and end up in good situations. As for people who people who take advantage of those who are willing to help will end up in no good place

Never lend money to friends or family! If you must get a signed promissory note on how they are going to pay you back.

If I lend money to ANYONE I understand going in that I may never get it back. That is simply reality.

Honestly nothing really. If it is a great deal of money take it 2 court. If its not then just for get it. And know that u have learned your lesson.

The right thing is to get the money back. Or dont do it again.

just leave it alone, not worth it. let them be that way. when they try coming around again dont let them. me personally, i dont like being around people I cant trust.

That person used you to get "free money". You must either confront the person and make it clear they should pay you, or face the consequences.

When I lend money to someone I expect to never see it returned. If I get it back great. But I'm fully prepared not to so it doesn't bother me

You broke the cardinal rule! never lend money to family or friend's.
Not much of a friend as you just found out!
I've lent money to a brother-in-law with no expectations to ever see it paid back, it's been nearly a year and he hasn't paid back a dime!
Never again! $800 gift to a unappreciative bum who lives on handouts!

They just showed you who they are, even if it's for 2.00 or 200.00 doesn't matter. They put a "value" on your friendship. DO NOT lend money...

Always consider money you give to people when you fall for their story about needing it, a gift!!!

Hmmm, what do you mean as a gift ?
Report as
Consider it Like a gift, Don't expect it back! If you do you, shouldn't lend it, because 9 out of 10 people who have to resort to borrowing from friends aren't good with money themselves and can't pay it back in full and won't make payments for long, they end up enemies. You should only lend money to people you don't like and are trying to get rid of. It works every time.
