Is there really a difference between ASN and BSN?

My goal is to be a travel nurse or a nurse in the ICU, I heard that a BSN gets paid a little more then a ASN. An ASN is more appealing to me because its one less year of school, but I guess in the end is there really a difference that i should consider before choosing ASN and BSN?
