How to get my kitten to sleep at night?

I have a 6 month old kitten and she's very calm during the day. but at night she's very active and insists on playing. I've tried playing with her before I go to bed but she doesn't play back. I've only had her for 4 days. what I'm currently doing is leaving my door open ( so she can reach her food, water, litter box, etc.) and letting her roam the house so she can tire out. will this help her sleep at night time?

Cats require a lot of sleep, especially when they are kittens. They have a nocturnal instinct that will make them want to "hunt" at night and sleep most of the day. What I do for my cat is that Im high energy and interacting with the cat when I wake up and vary calm and relaxed at night. You could try convincing your cat to sleep at night by providing the cat with something it loves to sleep on, but only allow the cat on it at night! My cat has a warming pad that she loves. It was like $20 at Walgreens it has a warm setting and it turns off after 2 hours. This will help encourage your cat to sleep at night, but no mater what you cant get a cat to sleep through the night like you can train a baby to.

Cats are nocturnal. In the wild most of their hunting would be done in cover of night. It's instinct and you're not going to be able to break that habit.

Cats tend to roam around at night no matter what age they are. My family's cat is let out in the garage at night so the cat can go catch mice.

Cats/kittens sleep 3/4 out of the day, daytime ( or the time your awake ) is 3/4 of the day. nighttime is 1/4 of the day. so the natural cycle of the earth is really a benefit of them

It's instinct for her to be more active at night time. Cats sleep during the day and hunt at night. Try playing with her and tiring her out. Play more with her during the day, by night time she won't feel like being hyper anymore. She is also probably still missing her mother and siblings. Let her sleep with you to keep her company. Your her new parent now, let her know that. :)
