The task bar icon says "no internet access, networks are available" Yet I connect onto the internet.

The wireless icon at the bottom left on the task bar says my laptop is not connected, and that there are networks available. But most of the time I can connect to the internet, then sometimes I can't connect to the internet. This is weird because all my other wireless electronics (my other laptop, my cell phone, my Xbox 360, and even my brothers PS3) connect to my router with no problem. Even when I am able to connect to the internet on my laptop, the icon still says "not connected". I already uninstalled and re-installed the drivers, I went to Command Prompt and put ipconfig/all, I restarted my modem and router, and I tried connecting my laptop via Ethernet cable directly to the LAN inputs at the back of my router. When I use the Ethernet cable the laptop connects to the internet and works fine but the icon at the bottom still says there is no internet access. Sorry for all the words but I really need to get this prob fixed cause I am home schooled and I saved my assignments on this laptop. THnx :P

Have you checked for internal modem problems? It could be a simple transmitter/receiver going out. Go to the control panel and look for network status and tasks. Sometimes mine says not connected, but when I tell it to connect it says already connected. Also, if you have Windows 7 or XP you should be able to right-click on the connection and then click on "status" on the pull-up menu to see how much data is being transmitted and picked up. If it's working, you should be able to see an increase in data transmission when you open a web page or send a password to a site.

The data transmission was increasing, but if I try connecting it it says "failed to connect to Belkin" and I go online with no internet connection and it works.

I have had a problem with my internet disconnecting at strange, unpredictable intervals. Right in the middle of a poker hand I get disconnected and lose any fake money I might have on the table. But I got an external usb modem and that doesn't happen anymore. I make sure both modems connect so if one modem disconnects the other takes up the task at hand. Try getting an external modem as a backup to your internal modem.

This icon could be showing due to corrupted user profile or an update that you performed, and which is causing this. It could also be that you have missing updates or software problems. You can follow the steps provided in http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/network-connection-problem-help#network-problems=windows-7&v1h=win8tab1&v2h=win7tab1&v3h=winvistatab1&v4h=winxptab1 to resolve this.
