I wish Ask.com had a History category. To get to the history questions, you always have to sift through the other categories.

I would love Ask to have a history section. So many questions are based on history whether people realize it ir not. Maybe we should enter that idea in Feedbacks.

Environmental awareness. We are overcrowding the planet, and then using it for a trash dump. It's the only one we've got; we can't just up and move to another one.

I always thought that we should just take all the wastelands full of trash and all our current trash and transport it all to some kind of industrial lava pit so it could just melt and officially be gotten rid of.

Well, there is an underground coal vein on fire in Centralia, Pennsylvania. It has been burning since 1962 and reportedly gets hot enough to melt aluminum. Centralia now has 12 citizens, and the town itself is gone. Might as well get some use out of the thing. Ironically, it started when the town landfill, located in an abandoned strip-mine pit, was set on fire by the fire department, but not properly extinguished.

Yes we know you teach that but is there anything else you would love to teach that you have an impressive knack for, and I know it may sound silly bur I don't mean it to be, but cake decorating as a hobby type teaching. The things you have seen through microscope could give you insight into so many unusual designs that other cake decorators could only envy. Or hand embroidering, using fine organic threads and also reproduce in the artistic sense designs that have repeat patterns, the patterns shells hold which are mathematical formulated, and flowers ...for I have a perfectly preserved 3 diminution fossil of a flower that is in itself extinct now, bit the flowers is ok ex from this species could surprised us all. You know what's really bothered me because the hobby is just out there and waiting bit no one has taken the lead? It's this type of hobby. All mediums are used to portray god/gods , angels, miracles , and suffering survived by man yet through the flory of god, the healing is begun. Yet very few people if any has taken evolution and used a different medium besides lecture and s formula stating there is no god. Since I collect fossils and have tiny fossils of bird like reptilian predators in their egg Sam, I see all the time how this opportunity is missed. Yes of course there are art mediums used to represent what they see in the evolutionary world, but is there much artwork displaying the beauty , the wonderment, the TIME and especially PRESSURE it took for the Earth (and other space articles ) to produce with so much patience, again patience, the beautiful lineage of evolutionary progression where noting this does not require any belief system to admire it's perfection .In fact, nothing apart from the studies need to be
done to prove validity...and this is where it becomes oxymoronic...a professor of the study of time and pressure using those qualities themselves to stop themselves in midstream and FULLY enjoy the concept and beauty of the evolutionary process by plucking a tiny fraction of time and
Report as
representing it THEMSELVES through one of hundreds upon hundreds art medium choices. People respond visually, many don't have access or any means necessary to study the evolutionary process you do. Putting it to art where it could be conveyed to the masses is what is truly necessary, rather than a string of logarithms which only a small percentage of people can grasp. But this percentage ALREADY knows this. Present it to the world using the medium of patience, time, and pressure that Earth did. Unfortunately , and I do know my stuff because my father worked for NASA for years where I grew up in that environment during the brain's mathematical and the sciences formative years. The scientific community needs to represent what's blatantly before their eyes in other mediums besides the expected. It's almost vital. Why? Because it reaches the common man, and right now what reaches the common man is
the other . Now to bake a cake and decorate it with representations of space microbes. :). (my phone is broke and text and autocorrect and all that is a MESS. it took me an hour to "jot" this down on a phone so ease dill in any gals of letters you may see (omissions ) and exchange letters for a word to make sense (substitute ) Thanks!

I am throwing this phone away today. I am off to get an upgrade. If you got anything of what I was trying to say in that mess ^^^^ up there, it would be almost funny. I am going to retype this mess (what the heck? It just jumped 3 answers and I had to come back up here) SOMEONE PLEASE
FLAG IT SO I'm not embarrassed my entire life.

Do you really want it flagged?
Report as
Um...okay.

As for hobbies, I sometimes teach some friends (and occasionally friends of friends) cooking technique and some old fashioned culinary arts like making/canning jam, pickles, and the like.
Report as
@Skeptikitten -now that's what I was trying to get at. Good for you. You were born to teach no matter what. I am the oldest so I practiced on my brothers and sisters. It's a drive that can't be held back. Thanks for sharing your hobby, though ai do wish I had the ability to do the art of canning and cooking techniques .

@seriously-yes, I still DO want ithe original flagged but it seems like someone would have done it by now and it would have been gone. It was SO frustrating trying to type an answer on this iPhone (like the old word processors which show only 4 lines) while trying to tie thoughts together interrupted with autocorrects from the depths of _______. (fill in according to your beliefs)
Report as
@Skeptikitten -years ago my ex mother inaw taught me how ro cook because my mother was sick while I was growing up. Anyway, this nice woman made a pear preservewhich consisted of tiny thin diced pieces of ripened pears, each the size of a person's thumbnail but thicker. (that took a while to cut...everyone would get in the kitchen around a big old farm table and have a pear dice-a-thon). Then they would layer in jars 1.) 1 inch of the cut pears 2.) 2 teas. sugar
3.) sprinkle of spice mix (recipe below 4.) and 2 whole cloves. Fhe layering process was repeated until the jar was full. These did not required a water bath because the purpose was to met it ferment to where it formed a slight alcohol base for pear pieces to sit it. In fact, I remember themayering this preserve in those jars that have the rubber seal and a wire kid handle clamps it shut. You would love this. Each Koenig they made toast on homemade bread and would spoon this preserve on it. Whenever a clove came out during serving, it was considered extremely important to out the whole clove back in the jar. It got better each day and such a sims thong was so gourmet. They used it on ice cream , pork, toast. The SPICE RECIPE is... 1.) 1 cup sugar 2.) 1/2 brown sugar 3.) 1 teaspoon fine Cinnamon 4.) 1 teaspoon of allspice 5) a bottle of whole cloves to add too each layer.
So, 1) peel the pears best you feel like it 2) cut to size you wish but thick thumbnail size is best 3) in jars with sealed lids put about 1 to 1 and 1/2 inch of pears, 4) spread about 1 teaspoon sugar on top 5) sprinkle thin layer spice mix 5) put 2 whole cloves 6) repeat avain starting with cut pears until jar is 1 inch or 2 LESS than full and then seal lid shut. Let set for about a week to blend flavors 7) start eating 8) return cloves to jar if they are scooped out.
That's it!!! And this is the perfect time of year to make them. The syrup in each jar becomes very very thick. (please excuse spelling autocorrect)

I love pears. I make a pear-port wine compote with almonds that I give out as Christmas presents. Often with loaves of my homemade bread and bottles of homemade mead.
As a microbiologist, I enjoy wine-making and brewing because they are related to my field. Each batch takes over a year to be ready, but I have a new one started every couple months in five gallon carboys.

This whole thing looked PERFECT until I submitted the comment . Geez I hope you can figure this out. I will write this again until it's right!!!
SPRINGTIME PEAR PRESERVES WITH CLOVES
1. In a large bowl, prepare spice mix. Blend 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup light brown sugar, 1teaspoon fine cinnamon , 1/2 teaspoo allspice. Set this aside for later.

2. Wash and peel pears (about 10-15). Slice into small pieces the size of hour thumbnail but thicker. Collect these pieces in a large bowl. Sprinkled with juice of 1 lemon for color and taste of pears. Mix well with hands.

3. Begin assembly . In each jar which has seals,.add 1 to 1 and 1/2 inch of pears. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1teasloon spice mix, And 2 whole cloves.

4. Repeat another layer. Do this until layers are 1-2 inches BELOW rim of jar. Add 1 TABLESPOON WATER. Close and seal lids and let jars set at room temperature for one week. After one week, olen your first jar and enjoy on homemade bread toast.

5. No need to refrigerate . Serve over homemade vanilla ice cream for a gourmet dessert.

This is the last time I will ever type this again. This last version should be the most complete and easiest to follow.

I would teach the most powerful spirit in the universe and that's LOVE, if we operated in the spirit of love all wars would cease and peace would began. If we would let love have full reign there would be no need for divorce courts or murder trials. If we as a people would unite in love there wouldn't be anyone going hungry or homeless because the free spirit of love wouldn't have it so. Only if Love would reign supreme there wouldn't be any segregation or racism or any other sects of division that would keep us from uniting in the spirit of Love.===========================Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If a man tried to buy love with all his wealth, his offer would be utterly scorned. (Song of Songs 8:7 NLT) The only we as a people can achieve this Love, it must start from the heart.

If I could teach anything it would be that about Jehovah God (Psalms 83:18) - who he is and his purpose for mankind. I will present it in such a way where one would question our true purpose of life and how the life we have now - is not God's original purpose. I will teach the undeserve kindness of Jehovah God and what it means to us today.

I will offer scriptural proof in respects to the time-period that we are living in and what would behold mankind in the future.
