how can I control a screaming toddler ?

Report as

I have three kids, one is still a toddler. The best advice I can give would be not to give in to whatever the child is pitching a fit about and to just walk away from them for a few minutes. And stay calm! Let the child know that that kind if behavior is not going to be rewarded, and maybe eventually they will calm down.

Distract them with something. If they are throwing a fit, put them in bed and tell them you will come get them when they are done. If they start up again, put them right back in bed.

Some folks say to just let him/her scream and pay him no attention. I guess
even a toddler will eventually get tired of using a lot of energy for no reason.

If you are at home, and the baby has been changed, fed, etc. You can try to turn on the vacuum cleaner. My oldest would have colic and would scream, or sometimes just liked to scream and would put on the vacuum. It worked with me. Can't hurt to try. Good luck

Time out corner for bad behavior. Tell them you will listen when they stop screaming.
