My ps2 won't play games or movies.

whenever i insert the disk, it goes in the machine, and spins a little. then, there is a sort of 'very fast repeated clicking noise', which i think is caused by the white gear at the back. i have not yet opened the mahine, as i am scared of breaking it.

i understand that it is 10+ years old, but i was using it only about a month ago. i have tried cleaning dust from controllers, memory cards, disk tray, vents, even inside the disk-compartment-thing, but this hasn't worked. i am certain that this is not a laser problem, as i was watching a video of someone fix their disk tray, which involved moving the white gear at the back. the gear made the same clicking noise as the one i heard, but slower because they were turning it manually. the machine tells me that it is reading disks, but is clearly unable to do so. please help.

its possible the eye of the machine that reads the disk is damaged and or has something on it like dirt or dust try blowing into machine when the disc tray is open if not it might be done
