How badly will it hurt to get a tattoo on my side?

I'm going to get a tattoo on my left side, about two inches from my belly button, and about an inch and a half or two inches from my hip bone, it'll be about the size of two and a half quarters.
I wanted to know, on a scale of 1-10, how badly it would hurt there, so I know exactly what to expect.
Anyone with a tattoo there, please help me out.
Thanks :)

Your side should be fine.
My first was the back of the neck, had no problem, it burned.

My younger brother got a huge tatt over his breast and passed out for a second, but he was SO Fricken scared going in for it to begin with.

Have you ever been stung by a bee?
That is what it will feel like it does just after you notice it stung you, the problem is that if you linger on the small amount of pain and listen to the tatt gun, it may take you over, then you pass out.
They should have water for you to drink, but it's really nothing to worry about.

People put SO MUCH thought into tatts, that they just freak out.
My brother was asking for days before he got his if it would hurt.

Bee sting and then just go with it.
The issue is after you get it, cause when it starts to scab, it hurts to move certain ways.

The tatt itself is nothing.

Enjoy the experience, it's actually like nothing you can explain.
Just remember that it's forever, so don't get one just cause others do.

The side is basically fat, so just a little burn.

i work in a tattoo shop and really its all about your pain tolerance and what you can hold..but the most painful place is your foot and the second you ribs...i belive that on a bone it is painful from what ive seen.

The pain you may experience while getting a tattoo may differ from what others felt, considering that different people have different thresholds of pain. The pain feels like a hot scratch although it is not as bad as you may assume. On a scale of 1 to 10, the pain is about 5 or so, although much pain is felt at the beginning of the process.

I've never personally had a tattoo, but my friend's father once had one done and he likened the experience to having lit cigarette butts stabbed onto your skin. That put me off for life. Do you still want to go through with it?

Thanks, and yes, I do, it means a lot to me, and I believe it always will :)

That's good, I wasn;t saying that you shouldn't. Tattoos often mean a lot to the people who got them, and I'm sure you're no exception. Well, good luck for the tattoo then :)

I never make any tatoo, but I think it will hurt badly since you have to sit and squat and bent your waist, and the size of two and a half quarters is quite big, I think.

Think of that again! :-)

Thanks, it's not actually as big as it sounds, and it's mostly outlines.

I have a large tat from my Lowe back that connects to my right hip. The pain on my rib area was pretty excruciating and I have a high tolerance for pain. Yours is smaller so it will take less time.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure I'll be okay, especially 'cause it's not on the bone :)

Is it your first tattoo??? I have two and it just kinda feels like a rug burn for like 3 or 5 days, and just follow the steps after by keeping it clean...

Yeah, it's like rug burn that somebody gave you Indian sunburn on top of.

Yes, it's my first :)
Thanks, it's worth it to me, rug burns hurt like a bitch, but for this, I don't mind.

Sorry, I don't know, I have no tattoo. But I guess today it is already not a definite pain, and it also depends on which part of the body. I just would like to ask you how can you type more than 140 characters under the bold-lettered question. When I finish the bold-lettered question, there is another window (more details) but only 140 characters are allowed.

Uhm, I don't really know, I've never really paid any attention to character limmits, except for on Twitter, so I don't know :/

You'll certainly know what's going on. The longer it takes the more annoying it becomes but I wouldn't say it hurts. I'm very sure you've experienced much worse then this in your life to date

I just had my side tattooed this week and it was exceptionally painful. The ribs and pelvic bone area actually felt great compared to the fleshy side of my waist. I agree that this is a place that is generally more sensitive and therefore it hurts like crazy. I'm very petite and don't have much meat on my ribs but again that part felt like heaven compared to my side. I thought the side wouldn't be too bad but boy was I wrong.
