There was this couple getting married where the husband wore chucks; point is, wear whatever fits you and that you like it.

I think if you're comfortable with it then you should wear it.

Ya. Converse shoes don't go with a formal dress ( coming from a guy )sorry. You should probably wear heels if you have any. Or, you can wear something that is similar to heels, hope you find this helpful:)

Ahh, I remember my first school dance and I wore my vans with my dress and my mom told me the same thing. Don't worry. Some people will like it some people will hate. It just matters that you like them

You will be wearing a prom dress? Or will the theme of whatever you're going to, be all prom-like? If you're going to be wearing a prom dress, then Converse will not go with the dress. If you're wearing this kind of dress: http://data.whicdn.com/images/40291210/Beautiful-Lolita-Dress-G-13780_large.JPG then you can wear Converse.

Wear what your mom says for the pictures and entrance, and then do what what I told my daughter to do-BRING FLIP FLOPS and/or nice GYM SHOES to dance and have fun in. Your whole night will be ruined with those other uncomfortable shoes. DON'T LIE about it to your mom! Promise her the pictures taken at the prom will look nice and be VERY RESPECTFUL to her and even ask her for help. This moment means a lot to her too-we moms are just that way. My daughter and I went and bought ribbon to tie her nice gym shoes up with that matched the dress and wrapped the flip flops in matching ribbon. She got so many compliments and even started a trend for the next year!! She still talks about it years later. Girls stopped wearing high heels during the whole prom and hasn't been done for a long while, but ASK your mom to compromise with you so you'll both remember it as a good memory. THAT is the MOST important part. I understand how you both feel.
