Squirrels are just tree rats with cute fluffy tails.

Then I bet it would to surprise you to know they are one of the ten smartest animals!?

Btw.....so are rats.

Their not smart enough to avoid my back yard after I have taken out about 40 of his friends!

Forgive me, but you should be ashamed of yourself!!!!

When the squirrel population around your house gets out of control and they start chewing up wires in your attic, and causing other destruction, you would would not have that attitude. Squirrels also carry lots of diseases.

Actually, I would. You don't know me. Damn humans. Constantly encroaching on animals' habitats.
I actually had a few "buddy" squirrels here, that I could feel from my hand. One ruined a couple screens, trying yo get in for peanuts, but certainly that never turned me against them. Damn neighbour went and live trapped them, and took them farther away. Let's just say, I'm not so neighbourly. : |

Humans carry diseases, too. My point taken......again? :)

@Kelvin
So, fix your attic so they can't get in (its not that hard).
Don't worry about them running along the outside wires. They do it all the time here in Chicago with no damage.
If you do have a genuine overpopulation (and not just a knee-jerky squeamishness toward "tree-rats"), call your local Animal Control to help.
Live trapping is easy to do, and you don't have the collateral damage of beneficial birds and neighbors' pets.

Any Crossman rifle that is pump action..pump it like 7-10 times and it'll stop any pests from destroying your garden or invading your bird feeder!

Beeman is a good brand. Walmart has one with a .22 & .177 interchangeable barrels and a scope. It's about $100. The .177 pellets go at about 1000 fps. I've taken out several squirrels at over 40 yards.

I've got a Beeman single- break with a cheap scope and it is extremely accurate and will knock down a squirrel and remove stray cats.

Just make sure you have a clean enough shot that you kill the squirrel quickly and humanely. If you ever have to finish an animal that's thrashing around and crying in pain because of your poor shooting you will understand why this is important.

I hope you're planning to EAT that squirrel, otherwise why do it?
But if you're going to do it for food, make sure you're a good enough marksman to kill humanely.
