Please give it some serious thought. A kid learns so much more in a school than just the academics, for example... * How to deal with adults who aren't his parents * How to deal with different views than his family has * How to make friends with strangers * How to be responsible when his parents aren't watching * Exposure to fields of study his family might not be familiar with * A variety of communication and teaching styles from an assortment of teachers * Extra-curricular activities the family might not have resources to offer * Getting familiar with people of different races, religions, and ethnicities
Presuming you are in the US, check your state's homeschooling requirements. Before you do, find out WHY the child does not want to continue with their current schooling situation. If there is a socialization problem, sheltering them from it will not solve the problem. It will only delay the enviable.
To ensure your student gets his/her education, there are a variety of subjects to be taught and requirements to be met: this is going to require a substantial amount of research and work on your part and the students. Consider the reasons your student want to be homeschooled and make sure it is for a good reason. Students learn more than just academics in school, they gain experience for succeeding in society by learning how to function within a group: this is very important for every young adult to learn. This is a very big decision and you should not take it lightly.
i think it is a marvelous idea. you should give it a try. i was homeschooled and it can be completely free. if you want it to be free, then don't buy books. use classzone.com
and you won't have to teach him about a thing, he can read about everything on classzone.com. that meant he can do it on his own.
that way it can be completely free. your child won't have to be locked in a school all day, which seems like a prison. and you can make your own planner(schedule) for your child. you won't have to stay inside all day.you can learn outside also. it would be a fun experience for your child and it would bond the 2 of you together. and if they require extra-curricular activities, then you should just join a city league sport team. that's what i did. thanks for reading.
