Suppose two parents are both carriers for a recessive disorder. Make a diagram showing all the possible pairing of their gametes after

meiosis.

make a square with four squares inside it. lets say the dominant trade is "A" (capital) and the recessive trade is "a" (lowercase) the top of the square represents one parent, the side of the square represents the other.

If both parents have one dominant and one recessive trade, put "A" (capital) at the top of one of the column and "a" (lowercase) at the top of the other column. Do the same thing on the side for the other parent. then in the boxes that have a capital "A" as both variables, put "AA" in the box. in the boxes that have a lowercase "a" as both variables, put "aa" in the box. and for boxes that have both a capital "A" and lowercase "a" put "Aa" in the box. the child will only have the disorder if the box has two of the recessive trades (aa). in this case it's a 1 in 4 chance of the kid having the disorder.
