From the word Scania, which is the southernmost province of Sweden.
The word Scandinavia originated from the Old Norse word, 'Skaney', that means "south end of Sweden". It is the region that is mainly covered by Norway, Sweden and Denmark. It is also composed of an island.
The southernmost province of Sweden is Skane, or Scania. That's the only source I could find without spending more time on it than I can spare right now.
