Why do some pastors put some disobedient people in leadership positions?

Report as

responsibilities often act as an incentive for bettering oneself.

I think the reason as to why pastors put some disobedient people in leadership is so as to help them better themselves. It could also be as a way of making them see what they do is bad and that they should correct their behaviors.

Just to see if they can handle the responsibility. Also it's a way of them to realize that they can't act like a jerk all the time because someone no they will be snapped at by someone and realize that it's not easy

What do you mean by 'disobedient'? If you mean in the Biblical sense then have you actually READ the Bible? Have you THOUGHT about the men God chose as His leaders throughtout the Bible? Noah had a drinking problem and was an idiot when drunk. Public nudity. Abraham pimped out his wife twice to save their lives, Sarah and Abe laughed at God when He said theyd have a baby in their nintys. Jacob lied and cheated and later played favorites with his children. Joseph was an spoiled, arrogant brat as a kid. King David basically had a man killed so he could have his wife. Moses killed a man and was blatantly disobedient several times.
Every man God chose as a leader was blatantly flawed in some way. There was only ONE perfect man without sin. Jesus. A human pastor has no choice but to hire sinful, disobedient men because there is nothing else to choose. All humans are sinful and if obviously flawed men were acceptible to God in that day and age then surely they are equally acceptible today to lead His Church, esp since perfection is impossible.

Margaret, from the way you phrase the question, i think the previous answers are missing the point, and that is Churchgoers want to be led by Spiritually mature believers. And youre describing Spiritual immaturity. And you can get that kind of leadership out in the world, who needs that in church? I think that Satan is at work everywhere right now. And he uses all kinds of ways to use all kinds of people to "smooth the way" for sin to continue. And the best we can hope for right now is that God will use His Ways so they'll turn away from their sins, and change their ways. I do understand your disappointment tho, it looks like you may know more about Godliness than your pastor...I'm just saying.

Thanks Beth 1, I thought I was losing my mind. In some church's 2day, there isn"t any respect for people,I was not brought up this way.Why do some pastors become buddy buddy with members of their congregation as though they are friends, whenever a member share confidential information about the things that are going on in their life, why do the pastor has to put it in a sermon or that you have to hear about it in a bible study class for everybody to know and many people leave the church, because their business is out there for everybody to know. This isn"t the way Jesus did things, This is totally wrong.

Hi Margaret, The only thing that I can say is that this kind of behavior is in churches everywhere. I personally believe that it's because this generation of leadership has been taught Law and Grace all mixed up together. And I think they use it to control people. My husband and I could tell you horror stories that would shock you, but then, you'd just have to laugh at how easily Satan fools people into looking at others thru a magnifying glass, and somehow not seeing the truth in their own selves...not funny laugh, but laugh at the absurdity of it all! I wish we did not have this to agree on Margaret. We left the church scene, but after a lot of trial and error, I found myself a wonderful teacher, who just reads verse after verse, chapter after chapter, book after book. And when you study that way, you get the understanding of complete thoughts. And I avoid preachers at all costs. Did you ever notice how they just use verses which frankly, can be manipulated for the purposes of men? Come back and we'll talk some more if you can, bye!

In churches where elders are not as they should be, there may be more going on there, than meets the eye.
