Can you get rid of a virus once you get it on your laptop?

Dumb question..lol, I just want to know if I can, just in case I get one:)

No question is ever dumb...

Yes, most viruses can be removed, some take more work than others and are more damaging than others.

Always have an anti-virus program running and keep it updated with the most recent virus definitions to limit your chances. Alternatively you could periodically run anti-Malware and anti-Spyware programs in addition to the running anti-virus.

Yes, but I'm not quite sure how. I think you can put in a disk to clean out the viruses

If you back up your computer, you can restore the backup after completely wiping the computer. Otherwise, your best option would be to wipe the computer an just start over with it unless it is a virus that can be removed through some sort of protective software.

Yes, but it's a hassle and you really want to prevent your laptop from getting infected in the first place. Like the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Yes, but be careful! Downloading virus protection software can be a hoax to give you a virus. I recommend Microsoft security essentials. If you have a windows computer. Don't feel dumb, my aunt put lotion on her computer to "heal it". lol
