Do trees and plants die of old age?

Report as

Yes, trees can die of old age. As a tree grows the amount of energy it needs to survive increases. The the amount of energy it needs will eventually catch up to the amount that it can produce via photosynthesis. When this happens the general health ofthe tree declines and it becomes more succeptible to insect and disease. The same with plants.

may not be due to age -but may be due to lack of water-how ever plants may get withered away due to passage of time-in case of trees there are cases which have survived for more than 1000 years

Everything that lives eventually dies, even trees (1000 year old trees). The whole creation is dying.
