If stop drinking Diet Coke will I lose weight?

I'm 5'8" 129 lbs at 15... I have been dieting for 2 years and have gone from 145 to this and from 5'6" to 5'8". I'm also athletic and work out 5-6 days a week. if I stopped drinking diet coke, which I drink anywhere from 3-8 a day (depending on if I go out to dinner), would Iose weight? what if I just cut down?

A recent study showed that diet sodas mask taste and cause you to eat more than you might otherwise. Aside from that, the artificial sweetener they use is really bad for you. These people who drink 2 - 3+ cans a day and think there's no problem because they're "diet" are doing themselves some serious harm.

Yes... Most definitely. Esp since it was found that diet soda's actually make you eat more. They make you crave carbohydrates.
Eating and drinking healthy items will really help you lose weight.... adding some exercise to the mix will help even more. Besides... ALL soda's will eventually rot your teeth.

Exceeding 1500 calories is not going to hurt you...especially since you are active. Cheering takes a LOT of energy.... so you might not be eating enough. Your body needs fuel just like a car does.
Your issue does not seem to be a weight issue. However, drinking diet soda has been proven to make you hungrier than not drinking them.
If you cheer and lift weights... and never exceed 1500 calories then your body has probably slowed down its metabolic rate because it may think you are starving. If you eat healthy portions of healthy foods, your metabolism will go up, making it even more advantageous in your weight loss goals.
