Is it true that hot water ruins hair?

My aunt told me it does and now I'm worried...

Warm/hot water closes the shafts of your hair after rinsing out shampoo and conditioner. Hot or warm water will not damage your hair. No worries.

nblacksmith was incorrect regarding conditioners. There is conditioner which is to be rinsed out completely, then there is conditioner made to "leave in" your hair after shampooing.

No. It won't burn your hair unless you blow-dry your hair.

Conditioners contain moisturizer that are designed to stay in your hair. But if you rinse your hair with hot water all the conditioner will rinse out. That's why professional stylists rinse conditioner with cool water, so the moisturizer will stay in your hair. But no warm or hot water won't damage your hair unless of course it's so hot it causes injury like burns. But I think if you were burned your hair would be the last of your worries.

Nope, don't gotta worry, although, if u do use hot water any conditioner u use won't stay in your hair and take effect.
