The answer of rinse with salt water is good. IF you haven't had all your teeth pulled recently, please see a dentist. Gums usually don't just start hurting for no reason.

All the above members were correct, stars all around. Rinse with warm salt water three times a day. Make sure you use hot water at first allowing the salt to dissolve. Also. take an anti-inflammatory such as Motrin which will aid in the reduction of inflammation. If all fails, see your dentist because you may have a serious infection brewing. Tooth and gum pain is one of the worst. Feel better. = )
