What materials are used in Solar panels?

Report as

Cool question. There are rare minerals like Germanium. My friend asked why solar panels cost 4 times more in the US than in Germany. His answer answer is that the petroleum industry bought them up. Make you mad?

I can see a future where much of our technology (cars houses public spaces) will be covered in these cells and we will have all this solar electricity. The petroleum companies may block the progress.

mainly semiconductors are used ..........
I've heard that silicon is a major component for making solar photovoltaic cells which are arranged in arrays to form a solar panel.

Solar chemistry is a bit like chlorophyll. There is an electron released by the photons and in plants it gets used to split water and combine with CO2 to make glucose. There is intense research in photo cells as in batteries. All looking for efficiency and low cost..
