Have you even been discriminated against?

Have you ever been discriminated against for something like race, religion, personal beliefs, gender, sexuality, etc? If so, what for? I'm doing a research paper for a class of mine, and I'm trying to figure out how relevant discrimination is today.

Yes. I have been discriminated against for actually being half Hispanic and half White. I have been called some rude names, too. I have also been discriminated against for my height. People are so ignorant.

Some of the forms of discrimination that exist today can be due to a political stand, religion and race. However, there are laws that are in place to stop all forms of discrimination. You may find more information from the following site http://www.eeoc.gov/laws/types/index.cfm.

Yes. That's why I stay away from the South now. I know they aren't all that way, but I got a bad first impression.

South of where?

America. Though it is the North of me. Seeing as I am in Mexico.

Your presumptions actually aren't too inaccurate. I've lived in the south all my life and there's no lack of discrimination here. But over all, there are a lot of nice people here. You just got to know were to look, lol.

I and every one I know has been discriminated against in some form or fashion. And to varying degrees. Some things never change they just become harder to spot.

I think everyone has been discriminated against at some time or another. My daughter has played softball for years and she's a really great player. The problem is that she doesn't look like your typical softball player. She's on 5'4" and about 110 pounds long blond hair, you get the picture, she's very pretty and I'm not just saying that because I'm her mom. Anyhow, we were trying out for a new travel team her senior year and I heard the pitcher's dad say "Oh look Barbie's coming up to bat" boy was he surprised when she hit a triple off his daughter. She always had to work harder on a team to be taken seriously until they got to know her. It just goes to show you there are many forms of discrimination.....

I'm blonde so I think people may have stereotypes about blonde people in their heads when they see me :\ But that's never been serious or held me back from anything- it's just annoying.

i'm a jew and yes i've heard comments, had aquaintances decide not to become friends, and a few bald faced insults.but all in all not too bad. one responder mentioned laws, however, there's a saying which is; morality can't be legislated. and it's true. until their hearts change peoples actions won't either. hope this is helpful.

Yes, i am Syrian but born and raised in MI now i live in TX and i am also a Muslim. So i often hear rude comments about how i should go back to my country even though i am an american citizen and i have rights like any american does. I also hear stuff like that i am a terrorist because i am Muslim which is 100% wrong because most Muslims are against what happens in 2001 and Osama was one guy, that doesn't mean all of us Muslims are like that. He was an extremest. For example: that guy that shot the kids in Connecticut was crazy and cruel, does that mean all Americans hate little kids and are armed and crazy and cruel?
I state my point..

Absolutely - because I'm white! It appears that racial discrimination only exists in this country if you're black or hispanic. While blatant discrimination against whites is totally ignored - like it doesn't happen! Politically correct? When "The New Black Panthers" are completely "excused" for harassing only white voters at the polls by a black president and a black DOJ - what does that tell you? Discrimination in every sense of the word!

ALL races are discriminated against for sure, however white people are discriminated against the least of all. I suppose you're right in the sense that maybe sometimes a certain group will get off easier than they should to avoid an 'incident'. However I wouldn't consider being nicer to one race to be discrimination to another.

oh boo hoo for us poor innocent defenceless endangered whites! thanks, but no thanks . i think we'll be o.k. without the self serving constant watch for anything that could be construed as reverse racism. that kind of outlook says "we did it,now you're doing it,so it's o.k. for us to continue to do it" and on and on. can you see the circularity of it? it's no solution. we,as a species need to grow up,i hope we can and i sincerely hope this harrangue helps in some way.
