Games can be any kind of fun competition. (Board games, sports, video games, etc.) Sports are games that are very physical or athletic. (Tennis, baseball, football, etc.)

If you can make big bucks playing it professionally...it's not a game anymore...

"Games" is a broader category which can mean any number of activities intended for fun and recreation. Sports are specifically physical in nature. Except golf and NASCAR.
