If you have hypoglycemia can you have diabetes

I randomly passed out the other day and they had to call paramedics and my blood sugar level was 73 which is low so someone told me I might have hypoglycemia and i was just curious if I would have diabetes to..

I'm not positive but hypoglycemic means you have low blood sugar. Diabetes is similar but has more to do with insulin not being released properly to maintain sugar levels.

I would think you are diabetic before the hypoglycemia. just because your blood sugar was low doesn't necessarily mean your hypoglycemic. When your diabetic your body doesn't make insulin like it should. That can cause your blood sugar to go from high to low. Its very dangerous!! you need to see a doctor asap!! good luck!

No.
A normal blood sugar means that you have enough sugar/energy to keep your body fueled. When you have too low of a blood sugar, you don't have enough. This is hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia just means you have low blood sugar, so you body didnt have enough sugar. anyone can get this. it can be caused by strenuous exercise, not eating for a long period of time, etc.
Diabetes is different. diabetes is due to either a lack of insulin (your pancreas cant make it. this is type 1 diabetes and genetic) or insulin resistant (your pancreas either doesn't make enough insulin to signal to your body to absorb the sugar in the blood).generally diabetics have a higher risk of consistently higher blood sugars, or extreme lows (if injecting themselves w too much insulin)
