I think its really helpful to take the big step and finally face some of those pesky issues/memories/events of yours....(you know, the ones that probably got you into drugs in the first place because of how effective they are at helping you numb yourself and not have to be "you" for a bit) Please know you should be proud of yourself for surviving and for attempting to self-medicate your way through this world. You have nothing to be ashamed of and there are lots of great programs with professionals who will admire your courage and are trained to help you get out of your pain. Pick up the phone and talk to someone and keep talking and keep seeking help...your spirit guides will get you to the right places and people. Good luck.
Other than using the 12 step programs, another method that can work for addiction is the cold turkey program. It is a free program used to temporarily block yourself from popular media sites. You can effectively use this program by drinking lots of water, taking a quick walk or visiting a friend when the addiction visits again.
