How to explain death to a 7 year old

our family dog just died and I am not sure how to explain it to 7 year old

Tell the child that the dog was broken and couldn't be fixed. Let the child see you dig the hole and even help to dig the hole. have a "memorial" service and let the child say the best thing about the dog. Put the dog in the hole and let the child see you bury the dog with its favorite toy. The child will ask questions on its own. Answer them truthfully and simply.

Wrong. A 7 year old is going to notice his dog is gone.

Tell him that the dog was sick and he went to a better place where he gets treats and such, I'm sorry for the loss of your dog.

Has anyone else, the 7 year old knows, died before? Grandma? Grandpa? Neighbors? I guess you can compare the dog's death to them. Just don't let the kid watch "Old Yeller"

Tell him that your dog has went to a better place and is very happy playing with the other dogs in heaven. Make sure you tell him that they will meet again someday and catch up on lost time.

Just tell him/her the truth, but in a very simple way.

Tell them a lie, and as he gets older and still remembers, tell him.

Go to Petloss. Com and look for a poem called rainbow bridge. It's unbelievably moving and helpful.

I wouldn't feed the heaven crap to the child, obviously I think this because I'm not religious but it's just not a good idea. Tell him what happened, he simply stopped working (like a machine)

Just be honest with the child. My almost 7 year old has lost 2 friends to death in the past year. One of her friends was only 4 years old the other her same age he was in her 1st grade class. We are Christians and so we told her they are in Heaven.
