My dad is giving me a 98 Chevy Malibu as a first car. Is it a compatible vehicle?

My dad is offering me the family car to have and actually put MY name on the title.... It's a 98 Chevy Malibu, is this a good vehicle, or a bad one?

You are getting a free car. How can that be a bad thing? It may not be your dream car, but you are getting transportation. If you would like something else use it to get you back and forth to a job and save up to buy what you want. It doesn't get horrible gas mileage but it si not great either. I think it is a good starter car.

It's bad that you're considering not accepting a free car

Do you know how to say thank you? Your dad would not give you a bad/dangerous/unreliable car to drive.

I had a few friends tell me that it's a bad car. Also, I have to move to another state by myself.

@Rotxy so you'd believe some friends instead of your dad ?? Your question didn't say anything about you moving & wondering if the car was safe . I still say you're ungrateful . Your dad wouldn't put you in an unsafe vehicle .

For free? No, a running car for free is not bad at all.

A car is good if it runs. Can you safely get from point A to point B? That's all that Should matter, for now

What difference does that make ?? It's the family car & it's free . The fathers wouldn't give his chid an unsafe vehicle . If it needs a few repairs it's still better than having a monthly car payment .
