music has a way of touching my soul. depending on what i listen to, it can alter my mood, it can relax me, motivate me, encourage me, spiritualize me, calm me. i have been struck speechless upon hearing a song for the first time, and have been appalled at others. i can generally take situations from my day and find a song that somehow relates to the situation or feeling. my life will be horrible the day the music dies. (lol)
Not exactly overwhelmed, but songs that are accompanied by a musical, can be pretty emotional, especially of the scene is emotional. I just watched a musical yesterday which was supposed to be comical, but came out very deep, and sad.
I assume you mean "been overwhelmed," and yes, many many times. I've even pulled off the road in a few instances because I was unsure of my ability to operate heavy machinery while listening to a piece of music. I can't listen to the second movement of Beethoven's "Pathetique" piano sonata or any of Dvorak's New World Symphony, especially the Largo while driving. Also had to pull over when I heard "She's Out of My Life" by Michael Jackson. And I was very overwhelmed at the Iron Maiden concert I saw 6 years ago.
No I don't think of music that way. It helps calm me down. If I am having a bad day or just not feeling quite like myself I like to put on my favorite songs and crank it up just trying to relax my mind.
