Huge question, I'll try to hit some of it.. a man who's word is oak, and he will keep it, a man who is tough and doesn't complain unless it would help to make things better, a man who is kind to those who are smaller and weaker than him, and a man who wants the best for those he loves, and is willing to sacrifice his own comfort for that, and man who considers leadership a responsibility and not a privilege, and a man who is humble but not milquetoast, a man who values brains over brawn but uses both, a man who makes the right decisions but learns from the wrong ones, a man who takes charge, but only if he can help the situation by doing so, and a man who has the ability to love and be loved back, and doesn't care what the naysayers think, and a man who builds and does not destroy.
A REAL man, the kind of man a woman wants to give her life to, is one who will respect her dignity, who will honor her like the valuable treasure she is. A REAL man will not attempt to rip her precious pearl from it's protective shell, or persuade her with charm to give away her treasure prematurely, but he will wait patiently until she willingly gives him the prize of her heart. A REAL man will cherish and care for that prize forever. ~ Leslie Ludy ~
A real man, well, since they only make up about 10% of the population of guys. They can be hard to find, but they do exist. A real man, is someone who has some of the following attributes. Chivalry and respect for women in general, gentlemanly conduct, a willingness to work through a problem and find a solution. An understanding of his humanity, and a realization that he can't do everything, but will try to do everything he possibly can. Understanding that his JOB is to protect the people he cares about, especially the women. Finally, a real man is not ruled by his urges or emotions, he is not promiscuous, and understands the value of self control
A REAL MAN that would never inflict physical or emotional pain upon a woman, never make her hurt or cry, would always want to make her smile and laugh, would hold her tightly in his arms, would catch her tears upon his shoulders while holding her and talking to her to get her to feel better, would smile and think back on when he met her, would want to make her sexual pleasures satisfactory which shouldn't be too hard, would protect her with his strength and courage from harm's way, would show her his love affection, kindness, compassion, and also he would be the type of man to always every morning wake up looking beside him to find his woman he really and truly loves and holds within his warm beating heart to always keep and cherish the memories of him and her from meeting point all the way into marriage, family, and many years to come and just still be with her....
I think you question should really be " How can I teach my mom not to let men abuse her" the real men are out there, the ones who show love, support, and have good family values, but sometimes a woman who does not value herself will let someone mistreat her. Remember this always "People treat you the way you allow them to, you decide how you're treated"
A true man is someone who has "put away childish things" (1 Corinthians 13:11,) . A true man knows what is right and stands firm in the right. A true man is a godly man. He loves the Lord, he loves life, and he loves those whom the Lord has entrusted to his care.

This is what the world teaches us what real man are like. Real men are tough; they don't cry, real men don't let anyone tell them what to do and some believe that men are better than women. Manhood is the opposite of boyhood when one leaves behind the traits of a child he is considered a man. In this all Christians especially men are encouraged to follow the example of the greatest man whoever lived. "In fact, to this course you were called, because even Christ suffered for you, leaving you a model for you to follow his steps closely."-1 Peter 2:21. If you have a Bible read Luke 7:36-50. Notice how Jesus proved himself to be a real man by standing up for what was right and treating others-including women-with respect.
