How can I sleep better?

Sp right now, I can't sleep. I have school tomorrow and I get up at 6:45am. I was support to be a sleep at 10:00pm, but I just couldn't go back to sleep. I toss and turn. I do go to sleep, but I wake up around 3 or 4am and have a harder time going back to sleep and I get tired. How much sleep should a college student should get?
I end up getting 6-7hours a sleep or hours.

I take 500 mg Calcium tablet/capsule with Magnesium and Zinc, plus 100 mg of vitamin B1 every night to be able to sleep through the night. Sometimes I also take a natural supplement called Calm's Forte to help sleep. If I can't sleep I pick up my most boring school book and turn to the most confusing pages and try to read it. I usually go right to sleep. When I had insomnia for years, I would also do some sit-ups to get rid of excess energy, then lay quietly and count to 100 over and over again, concentrating on the numbers, until I could not remember what numbers I was supposed to be on. By then my mind was numb enough to sleep.

if you have any tension that weighs on your mind then drop it . during my exam I used to lie awake in m bed the entire night but the thing is relax yourself .Watch the favourite part of your favourite movie or anything that can take your mind off things. sleep well

I think I have the same problem, fail to sleep quickly and get up late. So I try to relax at the most, have a shower, have some milk, soak feet in slightly hot water. Do not watch TV or browse the internet, just listen some soft music. Hopefully it works for you to some degree.

Do more exercises till you are tired out. Then you can fall in sleep in minutes.

take a luke warm shower before going to bed.

Use drug with anti histamine. It's side effect is you are going to be sleepy. (Anti-histamine is anti-allergy)
