Kittens become independent from their mother anywhere from 9-12 weeks prior to their birth, but they'll still be around her. If they are caught drinking from their mother you should pull them away.

9 - 12 weeks 'prior' to their birth .. I'm guess that is not what you meant. Prior means 'before'. I think you might have meant to say 'after' their birth .. and actually, babies will be weaned by the mother in about 4 weeks (not 9 - 12).

No, I didn't mean prior, it's been a long day.

The mother will start weaning them in about 4 weeks. Chances are you won't have to do anything .. the mother will 'wean' her babies on her own. You will have to introduce wet cat food to them around that time.

There are a lot of websites with lots of good information about caring for newborns and kittens .. Just one, for instance: http://www.safehavenforcats.com/newborn.htm

They need milk try showing them the teats and gently rubbing it against their top lip. Of they still won't eat after another 24 hours get kittens supplement milk and bottle feed them every 1-2 hours. Here's some other tips! 1. When the kittens are weaned spay the mother
2. Unfortunately when the kittens are 10-12 weeks you must give ten up or the mother becomes stressed and can harm them, herself, or you! Because it is against their nature to care for their young past thins point.
3. Never give the kittens our cow milk we drink because cats can't digest it properly
